Welcome to the Help Desk!
We've designed this exhibit to introduce you to some key concepts behind the Internet, and to show you some outstanding Web sites.
First, a few important navigational tips:
- Clicking on any underlined phrase will take you to a related web site. For example, clicking on Masterpieces and Art will take you to a list of popular online art exhibits.
- To go to the main menu at any time, hit the "Home" icon at the top of the screen.
- To go back to a page you've just viewed, hit the "Back" icon at the top
of the screen. To continue going back, click the "Back" icon again.
Some key terms:
- Clicking - It's as easy as it sounds. Using the mouse, drag the arrow icon on the screen to an underlined phrase. You'll notice the arrow turns into a hand. Now click on the mouse button, and you'll go to the related site.
- Hyperlinks - Hyperlinks are the glue of the Web. They're usually underlined phrases, but they can also appear as graphic icons. For example, the yellow "Explore the Internet" diamond is a hyperlink back to the main exhibit menu.
- Web Sites - What the Web is all about. Web sites can feature text, pictures, sound effects, movie clips, and much more. They can contain hundreds of individual pages, which are all connected by hyperlinks.
We hope you take advantage of this exhibit as a springboard to the
Internet, and we've provided an array of interesting sites to get you
started. Remember, these sites aren't ours - we've simply linked them
to our main exhibit. Feel free to use the "Back" button to back
out of a site, or click the "Home" button to instantly return
to the main exhibit menu.
Happy Surfing!
