Net Events are live chats and programs on the Web. Music events such as Paul McCartney's Flaming Pie Release Party were initially widespread because audio is easily transferable to the Internet. Increasingly, however, it is common for other important "real world" activities to have companion web sites that allow Internet users to listen to, see, and participate in events unfolding in real-time. For instance, the Presidential Inauguration was broadcast live over the Web. These events can also include chat, allowing users to "speak" with famous people or to each other. Net Events represent a convergence of media - chat, audio, and video - and offer exciting possibilites for future news, entertainment, and communication.
